How do I password protect an excel file?

To encrypt your Excel workbook and set a password to open it:

PC: Click the Microsoft Office Button, upper left corner of screen, go to Prepare, and then click Encrypt Document.

In the Password box, type a password, and then click OK.

You can type up to 255 characters.

In the Reenter password box, type the password again, and then click OK.

Then Save the file.

MAC: Under File, in the main menu, click Passwords.

In the Password to open box, type a password, and then click OK.

In the Confirm Password dialog box, type the password again, and then click OK.

Save the file.
